LOVE this thing! August 22, 2010 Brooke We originally bought this to use in our camper since there is no room for a pack n play. But it is so handy, lightweight, and compact, that we keep it in the car in case our 6 month old daughter needs to sleep when we're out and about. She sleeps great in it, and we feel at peace knowing she has a safe, clean place to nap. This month, we used it on vacation for a week and it fit perfectly in the closet (with door open!) of our bedroom. We didn't have to worry about tripping over the baby when we got out of bed in the dark. A pack n play would never have fit there, and it has been staying at home! We also keep a spare crib sheet in the carry bag and wrap and tuck it around the mattress instead of using the zippered mattress pocket. Wish we'd had this with our first child! We may order him the Peapod Plus because he's a little jealous of the baby's tent!
Great product (with minor issues) August 4, 2010 Amy Y. 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the green PeaPod for my 9 month old daughter to sleep in during our family vacation. We were flying and I didn't want to take her bulky pack-n-play. I read the reviews and researched the product quite extensively before finally making the decision to purchase it. Overall, I am very happy with the PeaPod and would recommend it to friends. Below, I have given my positives and negatives.
Positives:
1. Easy to open and close
2. Compact and fits nicely in a suitcase
3. Self Inflating (to a point)
4. Easy access to get child in and out
5. Spacious (even for my very long and chubby baby)
6. Love the color
Negatives:
1. Opens quickly and could cause injury to anyone standing close enough.
2. In order to make the self inflating mattress more firm, I had to blow it up myself.
3. There isn't a convenient way to put a sheet on the bottom of the PeaPod without having the sheet/blanket get tangled up by the child. I ended up puting a pack-n-play sheet around the mattress and placing it inside the PeaPod, rather than in the compartment that it was supposed to go in (outside and underneath the PeaPod).
4. If you have a baby that is rolling over already, you will have to have the baby zipped in. My daughter rolled out of the PeaPod every time I put her inside, so I didn't have the option of keeping it unzipped.
5. The zipper is noisy and will probably wake up the baby if she/he is asleep when put inside. It didn't bother my daughter, who went right back to sleep, but I could see where it might be an issue for some babies.
Love this travel bed! July 27, 2010 beijingmama 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I live abroad and travel a lot and alone with my daughter. I bought this and had it waiting for us for a month long trip to visit family in the US when my daughter was just 12 months old. I was worried because she moves around so much during sleep that I knew she would fall out of any bed I put her in and the idea of lugging around one of the very heavy pack and play type beds would be just too much and too expensive to check on all of all flights.
I was a little worried that she wouldn't take to it but she loves it and it has made our trip worry free as far as sleeping goes. Not only that but every child (and adult for that matter) who sees it wants to play in it.
It's light and very easy to set up and put away and as I put my daughter inside sleepy but awake I don't have the problems with the sound of the zipper waking her.
I would recommend this product especially for those who travel by air.
Excellent Alternative to a Pack and Play July 12, 2010 Steenbal 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This item is a great alternative to a pack and play. It takes up less space when its set up, and much much less space when packing it up to go somewhere. And our daughter likes playing and sleeping in it better than a pack and play. I wish we had discovered this product before spending the money on a pack and play. Just be careful when opening it. I read all the warnings on here and still wasn't prepared for how quickly it snaps open. I also haven't had any problems folding it back up, just watch the How-To video on the Kidco website beforing attempting.
Not for all kids July 8, 2010 JS In theory this was wonderful. I was so excited to find a travel bed this easy to carry, and so many wonderful reviews. It was very easy to fold and unfold, inflate and deflate-but the baby didn't want to sleep in it. We tried waiting until he fell asleep, adding toys, giving him lots of positive attention while he was in there, but after a couple of sleepless nights we gave up and returned it to Babies r us. There was another peapod at the store that had obviously been returned as well so I don't think we had the only baby with this issue. It's worth trying, but make sure you buy it with a merchant that has free shipping just in case.
