Product Description
What if America's most powerful leader was also its prime target?

Vince Flynn's shattering thriller, Term Limits, soared onto national bestseller lists and marked the emergence of a new master of political fiction in the same league as Tom Clancy. In USA Today, Larry King called Term Limits "a page-turning read," while critics and readers nationwide praised its riveting premise of Washington under siege -- a scenario made chillingly real by this superb storyteller. Now, Flynn infiltrates America's power structure at its very core, in a new novel that places the president of the United States in the direct line of terrorist fire.

On a busy Washington morning, amid the shuffle of tourists and the brisk rush of government officials, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a hail of gunfire. A group of terrorists has descended on the Executive Mansion, and gained access by means of a violent massacre that has left dozens of innocent bystanders murdered. Through the quick actions of the Secret Service, the president is evacuated to his underground bunker, but not before almost one hundred hostages are taken.

While the politicians and the military leaders argue over how to negotiate with the terrorists, one man is sent in to break through the barrage of panicked responses and political agendas surrounding the chaotic crisis. Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top counterterrorism operative, makes his way into the White House and soon discovers that the president is not as safe as Washington's power elite had thought. Moving stealthily among the corridors and secret passageways of the White House, stepping terrifyingly close to the enemy, Rapp scrambles to save the hostages before the terrorists can extract the president from the safety of his bunker. In a race against time, Rapp makes a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government is maneuvering in hopes that his rescue attempt will fail.

With the crackling tension and explosive action that made Term Limits "a roller-coaster, edge-of-your-seat thriller" (Minneapolis Star-Tribune), Vince Flynn delivers Transfer of Power -- a blockbuster novel that carries us just beyond today's headlines.

5 out of 5 stars great book   September 7, 2010

once i start reading this book i cant put it down very few books make me do this

4 out of 5 stars Action from start to end and good Kindle formatting   September 7, 2010
Ruben Olsen (Alternating between Bergen, Norway & Los Gatos, California)
By reading one of the Kindle discussion about which series to read, I came across the Mitch Rapp books. Unfortunately they have not been published in Norway - AFAIK.

As a huge fan of action books with the spy twist this was right up my alley. Having the opportunity to start with book one was a huge bonus thanks to the inherited properties of electronic books.

I was not disappointed with the first Mitch Rapp book and I look forward to read the next one.

The book started a bit slow, but within the first 200 locations it really took off. If you have read a lot of these kinds of books the ending of the story could only have two outcomes and can be foreseen. This did not hamper the quality of the story, nor the entertainment value - which is really great.

The only thing that I wish could be handled differently is that the epilogue was not present - without the epilogue a veritable nemesis to the series could be introduced.

An excellent tool Vince Flynn used throughout the book was putting out a lot of hints and red herrings which may or may not be picked up later. I really hope that some of these hints will be taken on later in the series.

The persona gallery is excellent portrayed, even more so than other books in this genre. I really hope that some of the involuntarily bad guys (idiots) will be present in later books - just for the entertainment value. On the good side, I expect to read more about these people in later books.

Regarding the electronic version of the book, the publisher did nearly succeed 100%. The formatting is excellent, chapter markers are in place. Unfortunately there where no graphical cover present - however, the cover is good enough.

The book fails on one important item: There is a reference to a map - but this map is not found in the book. For this, the publisher should be ashamed of them self. When this is said, the book can be read without the map.

All in all the book scores pretty high on the various points of The E-book Readers Manifesto.

5 out of 5 stars Truly well written thrillers   August 25, 2010
William J. Dunaj (Miami, FL USA)
This first in the series Mitch Rapp novel is very thrilling and the best novel of its type that I have read in years. It has motivated me to buy all 11 in the series and I have finished 3 to date. They are all great, but this is the best so far.

5 out of 5 stars Page turner   August 4, 2010

I wanted a small book that I could tuck in my purse for "airport reading" This is a believable, fast paced, totally engaging book. I hope we really have men like Mitch Rapp on our side. The slimy politicians were all too real.

I passed it on to a friend when I was finished. It's too good not to share.
