A Great Introduction to EDM Music Production January 15, 2010

The Dance Music Manual is required reading for anyone who wants start producing dance music and doesn't know where to start. Snoman attempts to cover several genres and many overarching techniques that could be applied to several genres, so anyone looking for particulars of their genre or specific advanced techniques would probably have better luck elsewhere.

I have been producing electronic dance music for over 20 years and this is the best book ever written on the topic. It's comprehensive, well written, well illustrated, and well thought out.
This is a great book for the beginner thru expert, though I think those with intermediate to advanced knowledge will benefit the most. I bought volume 1, 2 and the ebook of this.
Highly highly recommend it.

i've read only 2 sections and i must say, this is VERY helpful! i believe everything you need to know is here. its pretty much organized like a textbook but you dont need to read everything to learn what ur looking for. so start with the chapter that most interests you.

If you make music, you can't ignore dance music. Snoman has collected style and production notes for the major genres of electronic dance music in one place. The prose gives great technical detail without obfuscation.
Like Strunk & White, Snoman's book is a snapshot in time. Use it to build a foundation, but spend time listening to the music you enjoy. You will find that Snoman provides a solid basis for understanding modern music. You have to put in the effort to go beyond what he teaches and create truly great new music.
